At VBE Academy, we’re excited to share news on successful applications of Value-Based Engineering (VBE). A groundbreaking project it the work at Austria's AMS (Austria's Arbeitsmarktservice, Austrian Public Employment Service) regarding the Berufsinfomat. This research project, led by Dr. Sarah Spiekermann from WU Wien in collaboration with Aschauer IT, aimed to analyze and enhance the value contribution of AI-driven systems in vocational counseling services.
The value language of VBE was used to assess the performance of the dialogues of the AI system provided by Austria’s National Employment Service. The AI was designed to support people looking for educational programs and professional development profiles. By applying VBE value language, the project explored not only the functional values of the AI’s (GPT-based) dialogues but also its social and ethical implications.
This project lays the foundation for the responsible advancement of AI-based advisory services, aligning with ethical requirements like those outlined in the EU AI Act.
